TRUMP'S DECISION TO RECOGNIZE JERUSALEM AS THE CAPITAL OF ISRAEL

The solidarity of the African-Asian people is deeply denigrated by US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel and move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to occupied Jerusalem, ignoring Arab and international warnings.

This decision was followed by a wave of anger that prevailed in the Arab countries and some capitals of the world.

Such decision is contrary to the resolutions of the international legitimacy on Jerusalem, most notably Resolution 242 of 1967, which stipulated the withdrawal from occupied territories including Jerusalem, Resolution No. 478 of 1980 on the rejection of the Israeli government's decision to annex Jerusalem, and Security Council resolution 2334 of 2016 on non-recognition The Council has made any Israeli changes to the 1967 borders, including Jerusalem.

The AAPSO expresses its deep condemnations over the catastrophic repercussions of the resolution, which will ignite violence, destabilize the region, and increase terrorist acts and the emergence of new terrorist groups at a time when the world is seeking all the strength to combat terrorism as well as the negative effects on the future of the peace process in the region.

The AAPSO expresses its solidarity and support for the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Palestinian people in their just struggle to achieve their independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, including East Jerusalem as its capital.
