We have come from many countries of the world to take part in the International Meeting on Solidarity, Friendship and Cooperation with Viet Nam and join the Vietnamese people in celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. Its founding was the fruit of a long, hard and heroic struggle of a nation for dignity, social equity and independence. This has been a major event in world history . We recall with profound emotion the rote played by President Ho Chi Minh, your cherished and charismatic leader, founder of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.

Three important events were held in Hanoi during 31st August until 2nd September 2005 on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of the August revolution and the establishment of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. on 2nd September 1945.

Today, we are commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Founding of the Afro-Asian Peoples Solidarity Organization (AAPSO) We would like, on this occasion, to not only give an historic account of the mission and activities of the Organization or details of this historic period but to draw from the lessons gained during its historic course in order to erect the bases for the future of its mission and its activities.

The first conference of the Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity movement was held in Cairo at the end of 1957 until 1st January 1958 and resulted in the establishment of the Permanent Secretariat of the Organization with its permanent headquarters in Cairo. It is a non-governmental mass organization.
The Non-Aligned movement was formed as a governmental movement of Third World countries and is an official continuation of the Bandung conference. Moreover, it considered the Solidarity Organization as a popular extension of the objectives of the conference.

Dear Nouri
It is with deep regret that we learnt of the sad demise of Dr Morad Ghaleb. In his lifetime of 85 years, he has served his country well and led the AAPSO for nearly ten years as President. Those of us who came into his contact cannot ever forget his humility and modesty, his sense of purpose and resolve to champion a cause. In his death we have best a born leader and a generous soul. At this moment of grief we stand by the Permanent Secretariat, offer our heartfelt condolences to his near and dear ones, and pay sincere homage to his memory.
