The Bandung of the fifties as reflected in the mirror of the new age
Today, after fifty years of great changes, we remember the historic Bandung Conference.
Despite the nostalgia of the memory, both the remembrance and the nostalgia are certainly not aimed at bringing back to life this great event, for this would be outside of and against the march of history. Yet the spirit of Bandung is what makes us remember the event today with interest, exactly as we remember the spirit of the socialist October revolution that took place almost ninety years ago, also as a great historic event, which left its mark on an entire century.

This year is the 50th Anniversary of the Bandung Afro-Asian Conference when 29 Asian and African countries met and discussed ways and means by which their people could complete decolonisation and achieve economic, political and economic liberation cooperation.
We all agree that despite the diverse and numerous initiatives calling for reform that landed on the Middle East and North Africa from abroad, we are in dire need for comprehensive reform and change in all the region, even worldwide.
Fifty years ago, the representatives of 19 African and Asian countries gathered in Bandung to declare their denunciation of colonialism, adopt the principles of peaceful existence and expand the peace front in the struggle against colonialism. This Afro-Asian conference was held from 8 to 24 April 1955 upon the initiative and invitation of Indonesia, Ceylon (Sri Lanka), India, Pakistan and Burma (Menimar). Most of the African and Asian countries that attended the meeting were still struggling to gain independence, especially the African countries. However, they aspired to create an organization capable of stand between the two fighting giants- the USA and USSR. This gave rise to the role of Bandung Conference during the Cold War.
In following up all current world events, Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity Organization (AAPSO) held a symposium on Iran's Nuclear File and the future scenarios of the situation. The symposium was attended by experts and concerned individuals to discuss the current Iranian situation, conventions on Non- proliferation of nuclear weapons, nuclear terrorism and the future impact on the Middle East. Furthermore, the symposium tackled the status of Iran neighboring countries, shedding the light on referring the nuclear issue to the Security Council as well as the Iranian view and potential reaction to the situation
Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity Organization (AAPSO) has participated at the World Peace Forum in Vancouver, Canada from 23-28 June 2006 with the two member delegation led by secretary-general of AAPSO Nouri Abdul Razzak Hussain and joined secretary of International section Hamsa Abd El- Hamid.
The World Peace Forum was an international gathering of individuals, groups and civic governments from cities and communities to envision a living culture of peace and sustainability in our life time.
