Fifty Years of Solidarity in Defense of The Peoples of The South,

In this year 2007, Afro-Asian people’s Solidarity Organization (AAPSO) enters its fiftieth year. The year 1957 witnessed the formal inauguration of AAPSO in a conference attended by high international representative gathering in Cairo. In spite that the majority of the participants in this meeting are no longer with us, but their sustainable efforts and souls are deeply-rooted in the conscience of the movement providing it with strength to go forward in the 21st century.

For all the National Committees and Friends of AAPSO

Dear Friends,

In this year 2007, Afro-Asian Peoples’ Solidarity Organization enters the 50th year of its founding. It was in 1957 December that AAPSO was formally inaugurated in a convention of a very representative international gathering in Cairo. Most of those veterans who participated in this gathering are no more with us, but their sustained effort and spirit still remains in the movement providing enormous strength to move forward in the 21st century.

“Creating an environment at the national and international levels conducive to generating full and productive employment and decent work for all, and its impact on sustainable development”



The Conference of NGOs in consultative relationship with United Nations (CONGO) will hold the Civil Society forum to the ECOSOC High-Level  Segment in Geneva from 29-30 June 2006. The aim of the Forum is to allow NGOs in consultative status with ECOSOC and other relevant Civil Society Organizations to make the best possible impact on the dignitaries deliberations (High-Level Segment, 3-5 July) on the issues of employment and decent work.

We can differentiate - from the economic perspective - between entities (governments and multinational companies) that dominate globalization and taking full advantage from its dynamics and other countries which have failed to cope with the positive trends of globalization. In spite of the condition of globalization, there are countries which have taken independent path for the development and upliftment of their people and economies.

Dear Friends,

Please find attached herewith the Resolution adopted, along with a short report on, at an “International Seminar” held in Mumbai, India on 10-11 March on the Indo-US nuclear deal, which is self explanatory.
The seminar was held at the initiative of the Afro-Asian Peoples’ Solidarity Organization headquartered in Cairo in collaboration with the Coalition for Nuclear Disarmament and Peace (CNDP), India and a number of other local/international organizations (the list is included in the short report). Friends of the Earth Australia is a prominent international organization participating. The international organizations endorsing the seminar include, amongst others, the Mayors for Peace.

In the last 50 years there was a great hostility and differences between India and the US especially in the nuclear arena. While today India becomes a key strategic partner to the US.
They signed a number of accords such as the launching of Indian satellite licensed by the US, strengthening cooperation to fight AIDS, 40 Indian universities will cooperate with American ones in the areas of biotechnology, food processing, and marketing, the deal for spreading democracy……, and others as the topic of our meeting (The Indo-US Nuclear Deal).

The 8th Congress of the Afro-Asian Peoples’ Solidarity Organisation (AAPSO) held in Hyderabad, India, from 14th to 16th December 2008, hosted by the All India Peace and Solidarity organization (AIPSO) was attended by delegates from 25 countries after a gap of 20 years. Having entered the 51st year of its founding in 2008 as one of the oldest and broadest peoples’ organization that has played a historic role in mobilizing peoples of Asia and Africa to tackle the problems that confronts the Third World nations in the second half of the 20th century, the AAPSO Congress affirmed its intention to reinvent itself to meet the new challenges posed by imperialism for the peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America in the 21st century.
