The year 2005 commemorates the 50th anniversary of the historic Ban dung of 1955. The five decades that passed has seen tremendous changes in the world. The great advancement of the Information Technology has made world smaller and people are in a position to get to know the daily happenings of the world in a matter of few minutes. These achievements certainly are a great step forwards for the well being of humankind. The world also has made many advances in other fields such as in Education, Health and Agriculture. China at a Glance

·        China’s GDP rose from 7.4 trillion Yuan (U.S.$891.6 billion) in 1997 to 10.2 trillion Yuan (U.S. $1.2 trillion) in 2001- an average annual increase of 7.7 percent.

·        Total fiscal revenue rose from 865.1 billion Yuan (US$104.2 billion) in 1997 to 1.8914 trillion Yuan (U.S. $227.9 billion) in2002, an annual average annual increase of 205.3 billion Yuan (U.S.$24.7 billion).

AAPSO and the Asian Region

Solidarity Movement was a historical process. It was the Asian Region which was mainly instrumental in the initiative for the creation of the Solidarity Movement. The reasons were quite obvious as the decolomisation process started in Asia with India becoming free in 1947 followed by her neighbours, Pakistan, SriLanka (Ceylon) Mynmar (Burma) and Indonesia.
