The Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity Organization (AAPSO) is a mass non-governmental organization with national committees in more than 90 countries in Asia and Africa, and has associate member committees in Europe and Latin America.

The first conference of the Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity movement was held in Cairo at the end of 1957 until 1st January 1958 and resulted in the establishment of the Permanent Secretariat of the Organization with its permanent headquarters in Cairo.

The Non-Aligned movement was formed as a governmental movement of Third World countries and is an official continuation of the Bandung conference. Moreover, AAPSO is considered as a popular extension of the objectives of NAM.

AAPSO struggled firmly and resolutely since its inception against colonialism, apartheid, wars and endeavored for peace. The Organization and its national committees and member liberation movements extended all forms of support to peoples in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

AAPSO has consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations, and with UNESCO, UNIDO, UNCTAD.

AAPSO enjoys observer status in the Non-Aligned Movement from its inception as well as in the African Committee for Human Rights and Peoples.
